He was nervous about what was about to happen.He kept thinking about how the ancient religions had prophesized that a day will come when the gods will descend from the sky,and bring with them doom and destruction and wondered if the aliens who he was to meet were the objects of those prophecies.
As the most powerful leader on this side of the world,where the landing had happened a few days back,it was decided that he would be the first person to officially try establish diplomatic relations with the other-worlders. The landings had been publicised greatly,and almost everyone on the world had been talking about it.Some,excited about the prospect of there being other forms of life elsewhere in the universe,and others,horrified at the aliens' appearance,which they percieved as the most grotesque thing they had seen.
The alien's spaceship had landed on a remote and barren stretch of land ,where a millitary group had had been out for a routine scouting exercise.Immedetely after witnessing the landing,they had given him information about the visitors from beyond.The aliens had initially been dressed up in funny looking exo-skeletons and after they had inferred from the strangely designed equipment that they had set up,they had decided to do away with those suits,revealing their shocking appearances.It also seemed like they had difficulty adapting to the moving around on this planet.
Once the aliens were alerted to the prescence of the millitary group,there had been much commotion at their end,until one of them came ahead to attempt to communicate with them and produced strange sounds. In less than two days,word had spread everywhere about the aliens and their attempt at communication.After much debate,it was decided that the best course of action will be to attempt and communicate with the aliens and hope that they would be peaceful.And this was the day when he had to do it.
He slowly moved towards the alien vehicle and approached one of them.The alien told him,in what must have been their language,"We come from Earth".He had no idea what that meant,of course,and extended his four tentacles to greet them.

The time reverser

Joe got up,weary and disoriented after what had happened the previous night.He looked around him for any signs of life that he might perchance lay his eye upon.All he could see,though,was as endless darkness around him that seemed to cloak him like a shroud.Even the ground below him seemed to be too hollow and different to walk on.There was no source of light anywhere but he did not have any problems with seeing around him.There was nothing around him to see though,just an endless and uniform space.His body was aching constantly and though he could move,there wasn’t any point in moving about.Every place around him seemed like any other.Then he remembered about the experimental device in his pocket.He took it out and examined it,to see whether he could figure out a way to operate the device,which was the last thing his father had designed and made,before the cataclysm.
For many years,the effects of global warming and pollution had been quite known but the pace of ndustrialization had made reversal impossible.It was like how smoking killed a person.The person in question tends to smoke more number of cigarettes each day,every day till he becomes so dependent on the nicotine that he feels he cant live without it and so keeps smoking though he knows that it wont do any good for him and eventually ends up dead.And when the end of the world had been near and imminent,scientists were busy trying to find a way to escape the apocalypse that already seemed to be upon them.And one of them,who happened to be Joe’s father hadpurportedly succeeded in finding a way-He had made a device that could reverse time itself.
Meanwhile,the earth’s atmosphere had been pushed into a critical state and was thinning rapidly.It was calculated that human life had only a week left on the face of the earth.And when this was reported to the people of the world,it was mostly met with shock and there was an increase in suicides and crimes around the globe,which themselves killed most of what was left of the earth’s population and the people who were left remained mostly calm and prepared to spend the remaining few days fulfilling all their little desires and last wishes they might be having.And a tiny percentage of people prayed,some silently and some loudly.
The world itself was in chaos,as everyone awaited their deaths and possibly their retribution.
When Joe’s father finally finished making last adjustements to his device,there was only a day left for the world as we know it or rather the life on it,to exist.Joe’s father summoned Joe and prepared to send him into a parallel universe from where he would be able to activate the device.Jow stepped into the chamber that would transport him across the border of this universe into another.
And thus,Joe found himself in the limbo where the chamber transported him to.And as he finally figured out a way to use the device,he realized a horrifying truth-
He had forgotten to bring the batteries.
